Dhaaga Life: Embroidering a Future of Sustainability and Empowerment

Dhaaga Life is a Mumbai-based sustainable lifestyle brand co-founded by Usha Borda and her daughter Bansari Borda. The company specializes in handcrafted bags and accessories, aiming to empower women across socio-economic backgrounds by providing them with flexible work-from-home opportunities. Each product is a testament to the artisans' skills, blending traditional embroidery techniques with contemporary designs.

The inception of Dhaaga Life was inspired by Usha Borda's passion for embroidery and her desire to create a platform that empowers women. Recognizing the potential of combining traditional crafts with modern aesthetics, Usha, along with her daughter Bansari, established Dhaaga Life. Their mission is to provide women, from urban homemakers to underprivileged backgrounds, the opportunity to earn and gain financial independence without compromising their responsibilities.

Dhaaga Life gained national attention after appearing on Shark Tank India Season 4. The founders pitched their business, seeking ₹75 lakhs for a 5% equity stake. While the Sharks appreciated the brand's mission and product quality, they raised concerns about business scalability and profitability, leading to no investment being secured.

Despite not securing funding on Shark Tank India, Dhaaga Life has continued to grow, collaborating with brands like LakmƩ, PUMA, and Renee Cosmetics. The brand has also catered to bulk orders for weddings, corporates, and other events. With a commitment to sustainability and women empowerment, Dhaaga Life has built a community of artisans who take pride in their work.
