P-TAL: Crafting a Sustainable Future Through Ancient Artistry

P-TAL is a Panchkula-based social enterprise co-founded by Aditya Agrawal, Kirti Goel, and Gaurav Garg. The company is dedicated to reviving the dying craft of the Thathera community from Jandiala Guru, Amritsar (India's only UNESCO-listed metalcraft tradition). P-TAL offers handcrafted brass, copper, and kansa kitchenware, blending traditional artistry with contemporary design.
P-TAL's journey began in 2019 as a college project at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi. The founders discovered the rich heritage of the Thathera craft and recognized the need to preserve it. By collaborating directly with artisans, P-TAL aims to provide them with sustainable livelihoods while promoting the health benefits and aesthetic appeal of traditional metal utensils.
P-TAL gained national attention after appearing on Shark Tank India Season 3. The founders pitched their business, seeking ₹50 lakhs for 1% equity. Impressed by their mission and product quality, all five sharks - Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Amit Jain, Namita Thapar, and Vineeta Singh - came together to offer ₹1 crore for 3.2% equity. This rare all-shark deal highlighted the brand's potential and the importance of preserving traditional crafts.
Since its inception, P-TAL has expanded its product line to over 80 items, including dinnerware, tableware, and kitchenware. The company collaborates with over 50 artisan families, increasing their monthly income from ₹2,000 to ₹25,000-₹50,000. P-TAL's revenue has grown from ₹21 lakhs in FY 2019-20 to ₹3.98 crores in FY 2022-23, with projections to reach ₹9 crores in FY 2023–24. The brand has also attracted seed funding of ₹4.33 crores from investors like Titan Capital and Anicut Capital.
P-TAL aims to become a global ambassador for Indian metalcraft. The company plans to expand its international presence, targeting markets with a high appreciation for artisanal products. By continuing to innovate and collaborate with artisans, P-TAL strives to ensure that the Thathera craft not only survives but thrives in the modern world.
